From the beginning of Time, Man has always been afraid of the Darkness. Shadows lurking in the corner of the eye concealed terrors unmentionable. Blissful dreams were shattered by screaming Nightmares. And no Man was safe from the Darkest being of them all-- the chilly touch of Death itself. Thanks to the Darkness, Man knew Fear.

Without the sun to cast away the Shadows, Man was paralyzed by the Darkness. That is, until the day that Man harnessed the great destroyer, Fire, and used its bright, warm flames to counteract the cold Darkness. And suddenly, the Darkness knew Fear as well. Shadows were dispersed by the firelight. Nightmares grew powerless in the face of the hearth. Even Death was able to catch Man less often than before, for its allies of cold and concealment were nullified. Needless to say, this did not sit well with the Darkness.

In Time, as the forces of the Darkness grew weak, some of them realized that the Darkness and Fire could co-exist. The Demons in Hell did it all the time; surely the rest of the Darkness could do so as well, could they not? After all, Man was just as afraid of Fire as the Darkness was; if the Darkness could overcome its Fear, then it would once again be in control of Man. But the Darkness can be a fickle thing; only the strongest-willed of its denizens dared to attempt such a feat...

Elaborate rituals were performed at the beginning of each station of the year. Most important amongst these rituals was the Fire Dance, during which the denizens of the Darkness would ignore their Fear and leap through blazing walls of searing Flame. Those who survied grew ever stronger; those who did not were never heard from again. In time, this subset of the Darkness became known as the Sabbat, a reference to their rituals during the eight Sabbats.

The Sabbat became feared amongst both Man and Darkness alike, for Fire held no threat to them as it did for the rest of the world. Before long, they became an ever-present force of Terror. The leaders of the Sabbat turned their attention to what they perceived as the largest problem with the world: Weakness. Using their mastery of Fire, they began what was known as "The Cleansing," consuming all those before them in the savage Fires. The "Flames of Purification," as they became known, were the hallmarks of "Sabbat Justice."

Now, in modern Times, the Sabbat is still strong in the Darkness. Sabbat Justice has become a feared force throught the world whenever the sun ceases its vigilant watch over the Earth. And now, the Darkness has sent Sabbat Justice to several new wrestling federations, and they have brought the Flames of Purification with them...
